Such has been the competitive nature of the early season games that after three rounds of matches no team holds a hundred percent record in the Costcutter First Division.
Aberaeron and Lampeter were the last two to hold out but their records disappeared as they were held to draws by Cardigan and St Dogmaels respectively.
In a cracking game on Square Field Aberaeron did most of the running against their old rivals only to be denied two minutes from the end when veteran Justin Evans smashed home from a free kick to snatch a point for the visitors. Steffan Gruffudd. Had given the home side the lead on the hour.
There was an equally exciting game at the School Field, St Dogmaels where last season’s top two shared six goals. The Saints were on song in the first ten minutes as they raced into a two goal advantage courtesy of Lee Burrows and Johnny James.
Lampeter eventually found their rhythm and turned the game on its head to take the lead with goals by Mathew Wilkins, Osian Williams and Martin Hunter. Back however, came the home side with Burrows grabbing his second to earn a deserved draw.
Ffostrasol gained their second win of the season at the expense of Dewi Stars who are still struggling for their first point of the season. In a lively encounter the visitors took the lead after twelve minutes with a lobbed effort from Mathew Stapleton before Aled Rees pulled back the equaliser, heading home from a Dylan Davies corner.
Early in the second half goals by Gethin Thomas and Gethin Davies with a penalty put Ffostrasol in the driving seat. Aled Rees with his second goal kept the Stars in contention until Mathew Stapleton with his second broke through to put the issue beyond doubt.
Llanybydder shattered Aberporth’s unbeaten record with a single goal victory. In a hard fought encounter between two young teams a Luke Lovell goal ten minutes from the end gave the home side their second win from three starts.
Maesglas also notched their second win of the campaign at Llandysul who started in fine style with an early breakaway goal. It was not long however, before the visitors found top gear and with two goals in each half comfortably clinched the points.
All their four goals came from corners courtesy of Llifon Howells and Reuben Wells in the first period and Phil Furney and an own goal after the turnaround.
After their midweek defeat New Quay bounced back to make it two wins from three starts with a home victory against Crannog. Mathew Mousley, Jonathan Evans and Gareth Evans were on target for the homesters.
